Roy's precious few moments off of the field are spent surrounded by close friends and family. He appreciates the great joy that his daughters have brought into his life and understands the importance of a strong family environment. Throughout his life, he has taken time to teach and give back to children. As a child, coming from such a small town, Roy didn’t know if he would ever get the chance to play on such a big stage. His hopes and dreams were nurtured by his father and mentor, Billy Oswalt, and because of this Roy understands the huge impact an adult can have on children. Whether it is teaching pitching mechanics, telling stories about his childhood, or just listening to what kids have to say, Roy makes every effort to provide the guidance that has made him the man he is today.
